At Home with Our Designer

We had the opportunity to connect with our designer, Andra Jones, to discover how she's been keeping herself busy while working from home. 

Q: How do you stay focused and motivated throughout the day?
A: I stay focused and motivated throughout the day because I am constantly receiving inspiration. I receive it in the simplest of ways. For example, listening to a song that I am just really feeling. Or even seeing someone else's really cute outfit. I take that emotion and transfer it onto paper, where I then start sketching out whatever comes to mind.

Q: Who is your entrepreneurial inspiration?
A: Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel will always be an icon in my eyes. She overcame so many obstacles and is one of the greatest pioneers for how woman dress today.

Q: Has motherhood influenced your design style or aesthetic in any way?
A: I feel like motherhood influences me in every aspect of my life. I am always thinking of my kid’s future. And this is something that is on my mind as I design. I want my children when they are older to look back at what their mother created and be proud. And feel that the styles are still relevant.

Q: What is your go-to work from home outfit?
A: It is Autumn right now so I’m in a bit of a cozy mood at home. My current obsession is a matching knit set with flare pants. 😍

Q: What is your favorite thing about your job?
A: My favorite thing is being able to have an outlet for my creative side. If it wasn’t for Kingdom & State, I would still be sewing and designing for myself constantly. But there’s something so special about being able to show your creations to the public. It’s very fulfilling.
